Behind the scenes in the kitchen at El Viejo’s Sandwiches and More are this lovely couple, Pieri and Ronnie, brought together by destiny and chance, with an immediate shared passion for food—and eventually, each other.

They met in New York in 2022, there that shared passion sparked a connection that grew into love, marriage, and a journey that took them from Texas to Puerto Rico to Florida. Along the way came the greatest part of their story—the birth of their lovely daughter, Mila.

Today, family is at the heart of everything they do. Their love for food, creativity, and bringing people together has become part of the life they’re building, while always honoring the memory of El Viejo, the man who started it all.

At El Viejo’s, Pieri and Ronnie bring that same passion into the kitchen, while Chubby Mermaid gives them the space to express their creativity and turn their shared love for food into something meaningful for their future.
