At Chubby Mermaid Brewing Co., our connection to the water runs deeper than our name. Southwest Florida’s waterways shape our environment, support our wildlife, drive our local economy, and define much of the community we call home.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Calusa Waterkeeper to support their work protecting and restoring the Caloosahatchee River and the surrounding coastal waters of Southwest Florida.

Chubby Mermaid Brewing Co. donates 1% of our taproom sales to Calusa Waterkeeper and is proud to serve as an annual corporate sponsor of the organization.
This isn’t an additional charge added to your tab, and it’s not a donation we’re asking our customers to make for us. It’s our commitment.
When you support our brewery, a portion of those sales goes directly toward supporting an organization working to protect the waters that make Southwest Florida such an extraordinary place to live, work and visit.

WHY CALUSA WATERKEEPER?
Calusa Waterkeeper is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the Caloosahatchee River and Estuary and the surrounding waters of Southwest Florida, including Lake Okeechobee, Estero Bay and the near-shore waterways of Lee County.
Their work combines science, education, community involvement, water-quality monitoring and advocacy to help protect the waterways on which our wildlife, residents, visitors and local businesses depend.
For us, the partnership was a natural fit.
Water is the foundation of every beer we make. It’s also the foundation of the ecosystems surrounding us.
Protecting one helps protect the other.

A Name With a Little More Meaning
If you’ve ever wondered where the name Chubby Mermaid came from, take one look at a Florida manatee.
Our name has always been a playful tribute to one of Florida’s most recognizable residents. But manatees don’t exist independently of their environment. They depend on healthy aquatic ecosystems, clean waterways and the habitats those waters support.
So when we looked for a meaningful way to give back, we wanted our commitment to reach beyond our brewery walls.
Supporting cleaner, healthier Southwest Florida waterways means supporting an ecosystem shared by manatees, fish, birds, countless other species — and all of us who call this area home.

Chubby Mermaid Brewing Co. was built in Bonita Springs, and Southwest Florida is our home.
The health of our waterways affects all of us — from wildlife and recreation to tourism, property owners and local businesses.
That’s why this isn’t intended to be a one-time donation.
Our partnership with Calusa Waterkeeper represents an ongoing commitment to supporting clean water, increasing awareness and finding new ways for a local brewery and a local environmental organization to make a difference together.
